THOMAS VANE CORRESPONDANCE 1899

AN interesting letter, partnerships must of been plentifull, in the boom times , this letter the writer is asking for catalogues to sell  victor incubators, on behalf of the manufacturer.it would seem no commission is asked for but perhaps already arranged, the letter has a small flavour expectation, and trust to ensue.

1910 LETTER L.C. NIXON CORRESPONDANCE ON SALE OF BIRDS

WHEN reading these letters it is always interesting to get the scope of breed decriptions given by the venders, in this letter weights are given ,6 to 7 ,  colour is described , (hens are finely marked ).that they are excellent layers . also the sell that you must be quick, ckls are going fast.
Faults with buying from this breeder is that he has 3 strains, if they are mixed into one flock kaos will ensure, for the new recipient. the strains mentioned are all very early important strains. THOMPSON, HAWKINS, and FELCH. that they have been obtained direct from the breeder is a bonus, but as mentioned hopefully the flock has not been mixed.

C.N.MYERS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BREEDERS

C.N.MYERS  this breeder was one of a handfull of breeders that had pens of birds that are distinctly the style of dark and light barred that we still have in Australia today. the timeing of our importations into this country coincides with the type of rocks shown by this breeder. there are perhaps more famous strains but these birds at this given period show excellent type and colour. more on this breeder later, including a lovely catalogue.

AUSSIE BARRED WYANDOTTES NEW BLOODLINE bantams

these birds were the result of a cross between a cuckoo wyandotte hen, (giving rosecomb, type , and some colour). a dark barred plymouth rock rooster, (giving type colour, and size ) and then a light barred plymouth rock rooster, giving ( double dose of barring ). they have been well recieved and there strenghths over other lines are in there open even barring, not as dark as existing birds shown,

simple genetics were used and results followed graphs , tables , to the letter.
